Residents can, if they wish, join the Social Club by paying a monthly subsidy of $5. New residents enjoy one month's free membership and an account is posted in mailboxes at the beginning of the following month. Members are entitled to certain
benefits, such as a subsidised charge for activities like the Mid-Year Dinner, Christmas Dinner, and any other activities that incur an extra cost. If a resident does not wish to join the Social Club they can still benefit from all subsidised events held by
the committee with the exception of the Christmas and Mid-Year Dinners and any other heavily subsidised events, for which they will pay a greater cost. The social club fee can be paid in instalments – monthly or yearly. There is a Treasurer’s
mailbox in the Mail Room into which your fee can be deposited (in an envelope showing your apartment number and name).
Residents are encouraged to attend Happy Hour, and the monthly $5 social club fee entitles each person to two glasses of wine, beer,
fruit juice, or soft drink, all served by volunteers. Your social club fee also entitles you to enter the monthly draw for which three people can receive $30.
At Happy Hour, a raffle is sold for $2 each and participants have a 1 in 40 chance of
winning $30 or 2 chances of $5. The winning ticket is the Lotto bonus number ($30 prize) plus “one-off” ($5 each).
The Residents’ Association now holds a Club Licence to operate a bar in the Twin Streams Lounge. Barry Wood and
Jim Rea both hold a Bar Manager’s Licence. The bar is operated by residents for residents and family and guests are welcome but must be signed into the Visitors’ Book by a resident. The bar licence enables the Residents’ Association
to sell and serve alcohol within the Twin Streams Lounge, the Atrium and the Events Centre and BBQ deck. Opening hours at present are Saturdays and Sundays from 3pm to 5pm.
Other methods of raising funds are by Housie evenings, occasional raffles,
donations, and sponsorship. In addition, Metlifecare also provides some funding.
The accumulated funds are used to finance and subsidise all social events and to supply equipment to the various activities that make this village such a wonderful
place to live.
